It was a long time at The Washington Post covering football basketball, soccer, numerous Olympics and Grand Slam Tennis. Nichols began a nine year time at ESPN which saw her win two Emmy Awards, and featured in a variety of ESPN's most popular shows like NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. Nichols was also a part of the network's Monday Night Football broadcasts as an on-line reporter. She then moved to CNN as well as Turner Sports. Unguarded was a program that she co-produced and hosted was telecast each week on CNN International. More than a billion people watched the program across the world. Nichols also reported on behalf of TNT in NBA broadcasts during playoffs and All-Star broadcasts. The work she did for TBS included baseball and golf coverage as well as Final Four broadcasts by CBS. It was only the second occasion in the 42-year history of TBS that women were selected from more than 200 nominations.
